So the world is in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, but many countries have started to re-open their borders. Belize itself opens the international airport on August 15th, 2020. Personally, I think it’s a shitstorm of infected persons that will be the result of this. Nevertheless, some persons may quickly find themselves booking a flight for the 15th, but I hope you know what all is being required. Just a little excerpt below from a fellow Brent Toombs on FaceBook.
“Just for fun I went to the United Airlines website and booked a flight to Belize. I got all the way up to the point where I had to put in my credit card number and click “purchase now” and NOT ONCE did I see any information about Belize’s new requirements and restrictions for visitors. Nothing about needing to download an app, nothing about being tested on arrival (if you don’t have a 72 hour or less PCR test), nothing about getting quarantined if you test positive. Nothing about “gold standard hotels” and confinement to resort property.
I have said before that there is a potential public relations shit storm brewing. Imagine what happens after “Karen” books her flight to Belize and then arrives finding out there are all sorts of rules she didn’t know about? Imagine what happens if “Karen” googles “can I visit Belize” AFTER purchasing a non-refundable airline ticket?”
Essentially, please ensure you know about all the rules and regulations that Belize will be imposing for arrivals into the country. Otherwise you may find yourself 14 days in quarantine in a low budget hotel rather than your 5 star resort where you spent thousands of dollars.
